Weeding effort (hours/ha) in each paddock for each weed type
(in order of priority from the Weed Management Plan)

Similar charts, but with the vertical axis in effort hours instead of hours/ha can also be viewed]

Note on Interpretation:
Although the Reserve was not clear of all weeds at the end of our weeding year, the target species were largely under control in all paddocks of the Reserve. All other things being equal, therefore. these distributions of effort per hectare across the paddocks should be indicative of the relative severity of infestation by each of the weed species in the July 2013 to June 2014 weeding year.

There are, of course, some factors that do need to be taken into consideration.

Firstly, different methods of weed control have different efficiencies. For example an hour spent grubbing or cutting and daubing is likely to result in far less weeds being removed than an hour spent spraying. Paddocks (such as the Forest), weeds for which there was a large amount of grubbing/pulling (such as fleabane included in Broadleaf category), or weeds for which there was a large amount of cutting and daubing and seed removal (such as Briars in the Bottom Pinnacle and North Kama paddocks) are therefore likely to be overestimated in severity relative to other weeds and paddocks.

Another exception is St. Johns Wort (SJW). We were assisted in the spraying of SJW by a PCS contractor in North Kama and Bottom Pinnacle and Paterson's curse (PC) in North Kama, and we have been unable to obtain their effort to add to ours. Suffice it to say that the level of infestation by SJW and PC was much greater in North Kama and Bottom Pinnacle than indicated by the graphs.
