Comparison of monthly weeding effort by: weed type, paddock and control method Weed types treated each month between July 2016 and June 2017 This graph shows how the relative effort required for different weed types and the total effort changed monthly across the year. It clearly indicates the big surge in effort required across late spring and summer to control St. Johns Wort and Verbascum and the peak in effort in Summer and Autumn to control Briars. Effort for many other weed types is distributed throughout the year, lessening in summer because of the demands to control the seasonal weed types. Weed control methods used each month between July 2016 and June 2017 This graph shows how the relative effort expended in different weed control methods changes across the year. Grubbing was spread throughout the year, scything peaked in summer to control the Saffron thistles, bagging of seed heads occurred primarily in summer and autumn to treat weeds that were not controlled before seed maturity, and spraying occurred mainly from September to April, peaking in Summer, with a secondary peak in autumn after the a very wet month of March.
