All welcome

For all walks wear suitable clothing for the expected weather, and comfortable and appropriate footwear. Bring a backpack with water and snacks, camera, and binoculars.

Garden plants and Nature Reserves: an uneasy coexistence
 

Rosemary Blemings will talk about garden plants that are potential weeds in reserves that are close to the urban back fence and help you to identify them with examples and specimens. She will guide you through the Pinnacle Nature reserve to see some areas of weed infestation and the effects on the reserve's diversity. Bring water, a snack and a camera if you wish. Wear sturdy footwear and clothing suited to the expected weather. Meet at the Dungowan St Carpark in Hawker.1.5 to 2hrs duration. Contact: Rosemary or

En plein air weed forum:  We all know weeding is an art.
How do you do it, when and with what? 

Representatives of Parkcare groups, Catchment Groups and fotpin members and weeders, hold a discussion and conversation about weeding treatments, methods and their efficacy for reserves, outside and in situ. A great opportunity to swap information right where the weeds are. All welcome to come and join the discussion. Wear suitable clothing for the expected weather, bring water and a snack. Meet at the Springvale Dr. carpark opposite Weetangera 1.5 to 2hrs duration. April 2  8am -1pm (approx)
From the Pinnacle to the Molonglo Valley Corridor

 

Dr Don Driscoll and Pax  will lead a longer walk heading down to the Molonglo Valley corridor via the Pinnacle. Don and Pax will talk about a broad range of management challenges faced by our peri-urban nature reserves such as rabbit populations, fire management regimes, plans for development in the Molonglo valley and how they might effect The Pinnacle and Kama Nature Reserves. Don will also touch upon the fotpin Native Grass Restoration Project. This will be a great walk with fantastic views and vistas of the Brindabellas whilst walking through grasslands. There will be opportunity to return at the crossing of William Hovell Dr. for those that wish to have a shorter route.  Bring a back pack with water and snacks, camera, wear suitable clothing for the expected weather, and comfortable and appropriate footwear. Meet at the Springvale Dr. carpark opposite Weetangera. 5 hrs (approx) return walk. Level of difficulty, moderate to moderately challenging, due to length and undulating terrain, fences etc. Contact for further information.
